Our humble beginings are truly an embodiment of our everlasting identity. The An-Nur Foundation was established back in 1995 by 10 founding members who met at each other’s residence to pray in congregation, recite the Holy Quran and form a union of the Muslim Ummah. In 1996, with Allah's blessings & mercy upon them, these same members & their families successfully purchased a private property in the north east part of Baltimore county. Thus Masjid An-Nur Foundation came into existence. They quickly sought proper designation of a Non-Profit 501(c)3 designation with the US IRS and became a vested "House of Allah."
Twelve years later in 2008, another blessing by Allah (swt) was given to the Masjid An-Nur community, a successfull purchase of 4.4 acres of land, with an estimated cost of construction at $4-5M. Furthermore, in 2010, the foundation purchased the adjacent car dealership that was being liquidated by the Chrysler Financial Corporation for $2.75 million dollars. Equiping the center with 38,000 sq ft of existing building space in several seperate buildings. As of today one of the buildings (5,000 sq ft) serves as the full-time musalla and academy.
We are extremely blessed by Allah (swt) in providing ample space for the community and look forward in utilizing each area of the compound.
